Event Planner - Floorplans - Entrance Units

photo of an entrance unitsEntrance unit diagrams provide guidelines that have been approved by the Chicago Fire Department with regards to safe access.

Temporary entrance units must provide clear access of at least 60 ft.

These diagrams are provided as guidelines for one 60, two 30
or three 20 ft. units. The following should be noted:
  • We have presumed that a 20-60 ft. span would require interior support columns in addition to the outside columns.
  • Outside columns must not exceed 3.2 ft. (or 1 meter).
  • Support columns must not exceed a 1.6 ft. (or ½ meter).
  • The 60 ft. clearance is over and above the width of the support columns.
If other configurations are being considered, please send the proposed layout to your Event Manager a minimum of 60 days prior to move-in so that our Fire Safety team can review.

Please review the diagrams for the Entrance Units.
